The DeepTech Ventures Summit in Luxembourg will bring together key stakeholders to strengthen the country’s position in the global deeptech ecosystem. Organized by Technoport, the summit will focus on aligning strategies and fostering collaborations that will enable Luxembourg to excel in transformative technologies and attract crucial international partnerships.

What are your expectations for the impact of this summit on Luxembourg’s deeptech ecosystem?

As technology business incubator we witness the dynamic evolution of new technology development practices from lab to market in different EU and international ecosystems. We created the Deeptech Ventures Summit with the intention to set a local meeting point for deeptech involved parties to share on ongoing initiatives, practices and to trigger alignment on new objectives. Based on exchanges with local and international partners, we believe that effective deeptech ecosystems require a specific understanding as well as a strategic alignment across the different support and venturing parties. Our aim is to reach to the identification of strategic deeptech sectors and related support capabilities were Luxembourg can develop and claim deeptech excellence for worldwide differentiation, competitiveness and to attract related key research and business partners.

How do you define deeptech, and why do you believe it’s a crucial focus for Luxembourg’s future innovation landscape?

The fundamental base of deeptech is scientific findings enabling technical and engineering breakthroughs. Deeptech leverages novel technologies to address substantial environmental, human, or industrial challenges and is characterized by uncertain R&D cycles that redefine established models.

“The DeepTech Ventures Summit aims to be “the local to global” meeting point where technology entrepreneurial stakeholders converge to redefine the boundaries of lab to market opportunities.”

Olivier Zephir, Head of Business Development & Innovation at Technoport

Deeptech ventures are technology businesses originating from private and public research labs, SMEs, and startup companies who have converted high-tech research and development activities into a product.

These ventures underly different dynamics than traditional innovative startups, in terms of funding requirements, product/market fit validation timings and growth opportunities. We believe Luxembourg can develop some unique deeptech framework conditions so as to play an active role in the fast moving EU deeptech scene.

How do you see the summit’s role evolving in supporting deep tech ventures in Luxembourg and the EU?

The DeepTech Ventures Summit aims to be “the local to global” meeting point where technology entrepreneurial stakeholders converge to redefine the boundaries of lab to market opportunities. The scope is to collaboratively define, as a local ecosystem, the practical means to engage transformative technology development with international parties and to pioneer strategies that will trigger global deeptech business development of tomorrow.
